White whitetail belly hair that is 2" long is difficult to obtain consistently from the major fly tieing material wholesalers.The reason for this is the average length of whitetail belly hair is 1 1/2" to 1 3/4". In addition, wholesalers do not hygrade the hair by length.To tie large hair bugs on a 2/0 or large wide gape bass hook 2" hair is needed. Less than 20% of late season whitetail have hair that is 2" long.This length is a product of the deer's age, size, genetics, and diet. Smallest amount that can be ordered is 12 square inches.
